Eight empties

Let’s start off with three empties from Boots:

I absolutely love the Tea Tree & Witch Hazel with Active Charcoal facial wash from Boots. Thought if that is good, the scrub and mask must be too.

Ach nee. They were not. The scrub is nothing like the facial wash, it’s just, mildly buffing at best, with none of the effect of the facial wash. And the mask, it’s supposed to be on for 10 minutes. I get no effect after 10 minutes, the damn thing doesn’t even dry.

And unfortunately I accidentally ordered two of it, so I have another one to use up. So what I do is I start with a C vitamin peel and then put the mask on top and leave it for an hour plus, which does something. But I will definitely not buy this ever again.

Natural Collections waterproof mascara though; it’s a mere £2 and I’ve had far more expensive mascaras that are not better. It’s nothing special but perfectly decent everyday mascara. Will stock up when I’m in the UK next. That being said, I’ve just opened my first tube of the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara and…let’s just say I’m not overwhelmed. But then, at least it doesn’t make my eyes water, which is good. Could well have been the case.

Next up!

Couple of NYX products:

If I had not already bought the Urban Decay setting spray that everyone raves about, I would definitely repurchase the NYX setting spray. Because the UD spray does not seem to work for me. I’ll give it a few more tries, but so far the results have been: a. no effect, b. melting my makeup (???). Best use: wet brushes. I’ll give it the benefit of doubt since my skin has been out of wack, but since that seems to have been sorted I’ve just gone back on the foundation, so I’ll give it another go.

The NYX Liquid Suede, ah, it is a favorite. This is the shade Sandstorm and it’s a lovely brown-ish shade, on the pale side. If I didn’t want to try other shades I would definitely buy another tube, it is perfect for everyday use.

One shower cream and one hand cream:

This is one of my favorite shower creams ACO’s rhubarb and raspberry. I am obsessed with rhubarb. I also have the lotion. Soo jaa..whenever I can find a bottle I will get it. Don’t know why it still says limited edition? I think I’ve been buying it on and off for a couple of years at least.

Lush’s Helping Hands. Well. I ask a lot of my hand creams. And I’ve tried a lot of hand creams in my days; I know a good hand cream. This is sadly not it. Mainly because it is greasy. At least on me. Does not dry the way you want it to when you’re say at work? Or if you want to put on cream and then about your business and not leave greasy marks on everything. I do tend to forget this, or wish that I remember it wrong because I’ve bought it way more than once; I tend to like Lush more in theory than reality. Sadly, I’ve had better.

Last one! Is a food one. Well sorta. It’s one of my favorite chai teas:

Do I have a list of favorite chais? Yes I do. The Four O’Clock white chai is in my top 5 easy. But it is, as far as teas go, on the expensive side, and because it’s tea bags, I feel like it should be a sometimes product, from an environmental and economic POV. Which requires no efforts as it’s not that easily available around these parts.

Current fave combos

I don’t know about you, but I’m often obsessed with combining certain makeup products; which and how I combine them varies. These are my current favorite combinations.

NYX lash primer + Natural Collection Lash Definition mascara + No7 waterproof mascara

My current holy trinity of lashes. Lash primer! Why did it take me so long to get on board with the lash primer? And while I was off to a rocky start with the Natural Collection mascara, it seems to have settled down and now applies beautifully. I am most definitely adding it to my UK shopping list! The fact that it’s so cheap that it if it was any cheaper it’d be free is just an added bonus. To lock it all in place I add a coat of the No7 waterproof. Not sure if it’s needed, but just as a precaution.

NYX taupe blush + Revolution Radiant lights highlighter

I’ve wanted a taupe blush for such a long time and not until now that I’d stopped looking did I find it. True love indeed! Perfect for a washed-out, unhealthy look. You wouldn’t catch me wearing it without highlighter tho. Currently, this single highlighter is my top choice.

A variety of orange shadows

I mentioned how I love the orange eye a while back. Still do. I like to combine a number of different orange shades according to mood. Faves: the NYX Color Riot + H&M Orange Ochre & A Pretty Penny.

NYX eyeshadow in Coquette + NYX Cherry Sky + glasses

If I’m feeling extra fancy I’ll add a lick of liner, but the general idea is a naked eye + bold lip, because it truly does work exceptionally well with glasses.

NYX blush in Deep Plum + Real Techniques contour brush

Obsessed with painting an angry stripe of this NYX blush on my cheeks using this RT brush. No one would approve; I love it so!

What are some of your favorite combos?

The unpacking of the suitcase

Basically. I bought quite a few bits in the UK. I’m thinking too many to go through it all.

My favorite bits:

Revolution Radiant lights highlighter; MUA mono shadow in Chestnut – it’s the ashy brown matte I’ve been looking for for years; NYX blush in Taupe – had no idea how much I needed this; Natural Collections mascara – actually got three different ones, tried one, not bad, just gotta remember to keep your eyes slightly squinted until it dries; NYX Liquid Suede in Cherry Skies. LOVE this red.

Cat headband, cat purse and the fattest supercat eyeliner. Love the liner! It applies easier and quicker than all of my previous ones. And yes; I am a crazy cat lady in the making. The fact that I don’t have a cat doesn’t stop me. Clearly. Also got PJs with cat print from Primark – it’s a tradition, you go to the UK and you get a pair of silly PJs from Primark, every single time.

Picked up a few books at Foyles; I’ve already finished Before I Die, quite surprised to find that I liked this novel quite a lot. I sort of miss not reading it.

And can we also talk about this:

final1472587238708.jpg

Is it just me or does this just not work? I could barely go 2 days without washing hair using this. Unless I’m imagining things?

As for the clothes, I’ve worn the dress with the floral print; it’s from Urban Outfitters and the fit took some getting used to but I am in love with the print and the color. Very excited to see how I get on with the shirt; haven’t even owned one for years. Was really looking for a flannel, black bottom with white, preferably from the men’s section. Dunno if my search skills are not up to par or if I was looking in all the wrong places. If anyone knows where I could find one, do let me know!
