10 things that need to get the fuck out of my feeds

Anything nail polish. OMFG. I’m more interested in cars. At least I have one.

Outfit tips. Outfits to finish this summer in style?? Outfits you should already own?? Pretty winter outfits??? Cute summer outfits?? Wedding!!???! WHO DO YOU THINK I AM?!

Children. Please kill me now.

Johnny Depp. WHY does he keep popping up in my Pinterest feed?! Never googled in my life, how is he there??

Feminine anything. Hairdos. Shoes. Themes. Just NO. To be clear, examples of my most recent style inspo: Anders Fridén in In Flames, Twiggy in the 90s (it’s constant, that type of recent), Jonathan Davis – I know none of them have any style really, but that’s not the point.

Peanut butter. Because I need to forget, OK?

Instagram stories. It just bothers me at this point. There are like three users whose stories I watch. And I follow more than 100 accounts. Sooo…

Retweets. Didn’t there use to be a setting where you could block retweets + likes? Which, by the way, I thought I was using but clearly no!?

Football. I know it’s my own fault because of certain users I follow. But come on! You’re a musician, get a different account for your football tweets. Goddammit.

Stupid band/artist tweets by PR people who just don’t get Twitter at all. I.e. not funny, not relevant, just PR -Hello InsertArtistNameHere has released a record-. What no REALLY I had no idea!? Morons.

You want to kill my love for a band/artist, that’s the way to go.

Instead, I could use

More cats. I mean there can never be enough cats.

Alternative outfits/style. I know there are lots and lots of people with quirkier style, how do I get them into my feed??

Just less food. Less. Lots less. That its vegan doesn’t help.

More sarcastic comments. On anything. But on politics is obviously great.

More extreme feminism. What is the point of feminism if it doesn’t upset people??

Cows? Because why not?

Korn. I google Korn. I watch Korn. Why do I have to search out Korn for myself while you serve me Johnny Depp who I’m just not interested in???

More Casey posts. In general. I just want everyone to be as active on social media as Architects when they’re on tour.

Glasgow. Considering the fact that I follow Glasgow Living, there is awful little Glasgow in my feeds. I was expecting more.

…might want some posts to be clearer. As to who’s posting. Because there are a lot of people on stages and large crowds. Sometimes confused as to who’s posting. Might also want some people, who are on the famous side of the spectrum, to use more than their first name. If you just write Tom, I don’t know which one. Just be TomInsertBandNameHere, please?

So yea. Working hard on being bitter and then some.

New in my playlist • March 2017

I’ve not been a fan of the Discover Weekly playlist lately. As in at all. But as noted before, Spotify only gets my taste when I listen to a ridiculous amount of Bring Me the Horizon. Latest edition of the playlist was so bad I was basically offended by it. If I wanted to listen to Deez Nuts I’d be listening to already, trust me.

However! I’ve noticed the Release Radar playlist is just viel, viel besser. Infinitely better in fact.

The idea in itself is just on point. I don’t have to go searching for new releases by the music makers I already like; they’re all in the playlist (OK, maybe not all, but there’s definitely plenty).

It’s such a great way to stay somewhat updated.

This is some of what I found in me Release Radar playlist lately:

Closure by Adna. I have no idea how to describe this music. Unless the love child of Jonathan Johansson and Anna von Hausswolff is a sufficient description? No? The record company calls it “dark folk”.

Unfortunately no video for this lovely track, but this one isn’t bad either:

Even if you really should check out Closure specifically.

This next track isn’t so much a case of being introduced to a good track as “Oh, I didn’t know they were still making music”. Easy by Tokio Hotel.

I don’t understand this direction. I don’t understand why they’ve completely abandoned German. They make no sense to me. Also, if they actually paid for this cover art they got ripped off.

Admittedly, I already knew about Lorde’s Green Light, because Lena Dunham mentioned it on either Twitter or Insta. But it could well have been a new acquaintance. I fully expect this to make it into the playlists of my workout classes next semester.

INVSN hasn’t been my cup of tea lately, but Deconstruct Hits – ah, I do like it.

In Sweden, there’s been a lot of talk about Loreen lately. The shock that she wasn’t voted our contribution to Eurovision by default and all. Been meaning to listen to the track, but kept forgetting.

It’s another track I want in my workout class playlist.

There was also a EMMA6 track in my Release Radar playlist. This is where Release Radar is truly useful; I have no idea how to keep updated with German music outside of Germany.

Other than that, I’ve been really getting into Depeche Mode’s Delta Machine. Only four years after its release and just in time for their next release, which I’m sure I will also not get.

Unless Dave’s voice is just front and center throughout. I’ve liked Depeche for quite a significant chunk of time, but I’ve never been this obsessed with Dave’s voice. He’s even better now than he ever was, isn’t he?

100 day song challenge #53

#53 A song with a great drum solo

Oh what do I know about drums, really?

Top 3 drummers (in no particular order):

• Jonna in Glasvegas. Because she’s insanely cool.
• Bela B in Die Ärzte. Apparently I like my drummers standing.
• DanArchitects (I’m sure that’s his official name). Unsure if he makes the list because a) he’s in Architects, b) he’s funny on Twitter/in interviews or c) he is actually really good and ridiculously humble about his skills.

Special mention: dummer of Casey because he uses his hair as a prop and it’s funny.

Not that it matters because as I was saying, what do I know? I’m just going on live performance, what’s fun to watch.

Aaand I probably hate drum solos even more than guitar solos. (Which I mentioned disliking in #52.) Sure way to make me hate any type music/band/artist: include a drum solo.

So thank god none of the above are in the drum solo habit. Far as I’m aware. Could imagine Die Ärzte doing it as a joke tho, same they do with the bass solo in Monsterparty:

If you don’t know German, this here song alone is a reason to learn German. Trust me.

And yes sir, you are correct, I’ve just completely ignored the prompt and gone in a different direction entirely. Why I even do challenges? Not a clue.

Lots of love!

100 day song challenge #75

#75 A song by a band with a ridiculous name

I’ve always thought OOMPH! is one ridiculous name. Originally I thought it was some sort of a joke. How could it possible be a name?

But och alas it is.

Let’s go with the track currently featured on one of my fave workouts Labyrinth:

Perfect workout music it is.

Also: for whatever reason I absolutely love when they pick music in any language that is not Swedish or English for workout. Anyone else?

100 day song challenge #41

#41 A song with “K” as the first letter of the title

Since the letter K is far more common in German than in English, I was hoping to use this category for some of the German music I love.

For the longest time I was stuck thinking about Die Ärzte.

Until I finally remembered Jennifer Rostock. A find via BuViSoCo, which I was quite obsessed with for a while. To no small part because one of my all-time favorite bands with the incredibly inconvenient name Panik (try googling it and ending up where you want to) participated.

Anyway.

Jennifer Rostock is a sort of electro-pop outfit, v. v. catchy. Everything I want The Sounds to be, but which they currently aren’t.

Kopf oder Zahl is a brilliant track, give it a listen if you haven’t already:
