Skincare tag pt 1

This is the first part of a tag created by makeupTIA focusing on skincare.

What is your skin type?

Oily combination, on the oily side.

How do you store your skincare?

In my bathroom, like this:

Let me explain. The box might seem kinda redundant, but. I don’t quite have the space I’d like, and because I use all of these bottles regularly, if they weren’t in a box they’d be falling all over the place. This is a temporary solution until I move. I’m hoping for a bigger cabinet/with more shelves, and if that fails, I’m sure IKEA has some smart solution I can install.

The little bowl is where I keep samples. I’m actually quite surprised that the absolute majority of samples I’ve received are in fact cruelty free. Far as I know, I only have one that isn’t cruelty free and that’s a concealer from Clarins. Haven’t decided what to do with that yet.

Favorite ingredient?

Yes. This is where I feel like a newbie. Can I just say acids in general? I like it when it stings.

Most indulgent product?

I have the Paula’s Choice Radiance Renewal Mask. Indulgent because honestly, who needs this mask? But gawd, I loved the results of it.

This has been an Endless Blog Challenge post.

The Happiness Tag

This tag is slightly overdue as I’ve been away from my desktop. Yeayea, I know it is possible to post via mobile devices but I just cannot be arsed. Too much effort. For me.

I was tagged by Lise, now let’s go!

The rules

  • List five things that makes you happy
  • Share five songs that makes you happy
  • Tag at least five bloggers that makes you happy

Five things

Coming home. I wasn’t far away. I’ve been staying at my parent’s house the past week, keeping the cats company while my parents were off hiking. It was nice, it is still home in a way. Even so. Coming home home, to my apartment, makes me v. v. happy. I want to argue that it’s because for my uses, my home is practical. Practical makes me happy.

And also. My things. People who say things don’t make you happy lie. They do. It might be temporary, but still. I take anything I can get.

Cat company. I always feel so special when cats choose to hang out with me. In truth, I’m about as special as a piece of furniture, but never mind that! Prefer it when they choose to lie next to me tho, as opposed to on.

This guy, for example, does not generally keep this distance:

final1502476195491.jpg

He prefers to be as close to your face as is possible. For me, this is the perfect distance. Means you can get up and make a cup of tea, do a load of laundry, water the plants, or any of the bizillion things my brain comes up with. It doesn’t seem to be a big fan of sitting still for more than 15 minutes at a time.

Feminists. In general. Feminists are without a doubt some of the funniest people. A recent example: assholesonline. Let me explain. This account is run by Linnea Claesson. She receives a threat from some guy, as per usual, this one says he’s going to “get his boys and visit her” unless she takes down a picture she’s posted. She refuses. Which is enough for me to cheer.

It gets better.

She posts this little clip (watch watch watch!):

The sign on the door reads Welcome Fredrik (name of the guy) and in brackets and his boys. In the caption she’s written I don’t get visitors too often so I’m VERY excited!

The fact that someone had this idea at all makes me insanely happy.

It doesn’t end here.

Dinner with Fredrik and his boys. She’s set the table and is waiting.

As I was saying. Feminists are hilarious.

Super enthusiastic people. You know, people like Beth Ditto.

Vegan option! A vegan option that has been making me quite happy lately, is this ice cream:

final1502615212374.jpg

This is not only the best vegan ice cream, it is better than their non-vegan ice cream. I.e. it is creamier, and the flavor is all there.

PS. They also make dairy and soy free ice cream, in case you’re not a fan of the soy. It has a rice base and it’s just as nice.

Future plans. As in future plans to have time off work to go somewhere to see a band.

If I thought some more about going to the UK to see Deaf Havana, I’d be a slightly less miserable person. Can’t quite seem to remember to tho.

Five songs

In general, happy songs do not make me happy.

There is one glaring exception: Die Ärzte. I can’t quite explain this. I don’t think they do anything except for happy songs. Is it because I read their happy as sarcasm?

I’ve already mentioned their Monsterparty which always and without fail puts a smile on face because it’s beyond ridiculous, but I guess 3-Tage-Bart isn’t far behind?

…and you kinda need to understand German for this to make any sense at all. If it wasn’t for the lyrics, I’d never listen to this. In fact I didn’t, until my German was good enough for me to understand what the songs were about.

The type of songs that frequently do make my happy, are songs like Stray from the Path’s First World Problem Child.

Because aggressive. I like it.

There is also something about Diamanda Galás that makes me happy. Her mere existence makes me happy.

Like feminists, that someone would even think about doing what she does, it makes me happy. For example, she did an entire record of screaming, called Schrei X. It not exactly made for everyday listening, you probably can’t listen to it more often than you would watch a movie. It’s a performance piece I would say.

This is one of her more accessible tracks:

I’m also going to list Thrice’s Black Honey. Because. Not only is it a great track, which in itself is enough to make a person happy, but also. Every time I’ve been to see Architects they play it pre-show, and it makes me v. v. happy to have someone other than myself playing me this song.

Also. Miserable/depressing songs make me happy. Amity Affliction, they just do it so, so well.

Tag

Hitherdither? You up for it?

In which I introduce a tag with a short rant

I’ve been roaming around WordPress to find new blogs to follow.

It ain’t going great.

I’m specifically looking for blogs written by people my age, because life advice from 20-somethings..it does get a bit frustrating when you’re no longer 20, and also blogs written by people with similar interests, and/or a more varied content.

Makeup is great and all, but I have other interests too.

Being even more specific…I need more blogs that rant on music related topics. Rant! I don’t want anything under the impression of being objective, no reviews or “let me tell you about this band” because BORING. I want to know about what music people consume, the how, what and when.

I would say I also need more feminist blogs. But there are too many types of feminism that I don’t agree with. Not to mention the ones I’ve stumbled on trying to explain the basics to others while trying to be not too extreme (WTF!? Be extreme or go away). Just makes me want to ram my head in the wall. VALERIE BRYSON, ANYONE?!?

Yes.

I’ll just stick with the feminists I follow on other platforms. Besides, you really only need fannyarsinoe in your life and you’re covered. (YES I’M A FANGIRL, can’t help it.)

What I did find, however, is a good music tag. Next best thing surely!?

I think so. Let’s go!

(Didn’t say where this one is from, thusly no credit.)

Which bands/artist do you own the most albums by?
If we’re talking about physical albums, then Nick Cave. Yes, I kept them when I decluttered. Einstürzende Neubauten is a close second, and only because they haven’t released as many albums. They’re the nicest ones in my collection though, paper casing. Just saying.

The Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus casing tho, also not bad. A favorite track:

What was the last song you listened to?
Blood in My Mouth by Amity Affliction.

In my blog search, I also came across one blogger who complained about how Amity + In Flames (among others) had changed their sound, and not to the better, so I had to do a compare and contrast. Which is a fun little exercise I highly recommend.

Not sure why I felt compelled to, because the whole premise of the post was it is not as heavy thusly it is worse. SIGH. Yes because we all know heavy equals good. JFC.

In addition to which I don’t agree; neither Amity nor In Flames have become less heavy with each release. They sort of vary. Not that it matters! Because heavy doesn’t equal good.

Seems to me people are going to have learn to differentiate between heavy and a more chaotic sound.

Here’s what I’m thinking. There are bands that at the beginning of their career have ideas that they perhaps not quite have the skills to execute, which makes them more creative. This contributes to a more interesting and somewhat chaotic sound, sometimes mistaken for heavy/less accessible, which in turn means fewer people “get it” contributing to whoever does get it feeling that they’re just sooo cool.

It’s so boring I want to cry.

This song tho!

What’s in your CD player right now?

There’s a CD player in my car. If there is a CD in it it’s either All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us by Architects or Relief Through Release by Tura Satana.

If you have somehow managed to not listen to AOGHAU already, you really should give this one track a listen, promise you won’t regret it!

What was the last show you attended?
Architects
in June. They played C.A.N.C.E.R. Not their most accessible track I would say. You?

What was the greatest show you’ve been to?
This sort of assumes that there’s a great difference between shows. I just find that most shows I’ve been to lately, well I mean they’re carried out by competent people, you know? And I’m not overly impressed by people putting on too much of a show.

For example, if I compare the 3 Bring Me the Horizon gigs I’ve been to, I liked the first one the best, the one without all the screens and the arena-size venue. Because the setlist was better and I liked that they were lit from behind. It was a nice effect. I like simple things.

Track that fell off the setlist for the arena tour:

What was the worst show you’ve ever been to?

Erm. I could argue Being as An Ocean because I left after two songs, but I wasn’t there primarily to see Being as an Ocean so that’s a bit unfair. And the main reason for leaving was I was dead tired.

So I’m going to argue 30 Seconds to Mars mainly because:

  1. I still feel Jared is acting the part.
  2. Fine, invite people on stage, but don’t fucking spend 15 minutes picking the exact people to come up. It doesn’t make for a good show.
  3. Bringing out the acoustic guitar. Just nooooo. I’m not saying it’s bad per se, it’s just not my cup of tea.

When they started picking people out of the crowd I left because that’s just where I draw the line.

And anyway. They’d already played The Kill.

Absolutely not seeing them again. No matter how much I love The Kill.

What is the most musically involved you have ever been?
Let’s just say I haven’t been.

What show are you looking forward to?
Deaf Havana
! Brighton!

Also desperately hoping Stray from the Path will add Casey to their UK/Europe tour. It’s extremely unlikely, but my brain is all Capsize is on the bill! They played last time I saw Casey, so maybe!?!??

Yeayea, I’ve got a hangup.

What is your favorite band shirt?

Mmm. Either my Manson one or the Bring Me one.

What musician would you like to hang out with for a day?

I’m not sure I’d want that? What would we do? Go for vegan eats in Glasgow? OH I KNOW. Glasvegas’ Jonna. Because she hangs out in Glasgow. And is from Norrland. I.e. supercool.

And she plays the piano in addition to drums standing. I don’t know how you could be cooler than that?

Who is one musician or group you wish would make a comeback?

I don’t really listen a lot to any band that doesn’t exist right now. I mean there’s My Chemical Romance, but unlike the rest of the world, it’s not something I crave. Don’t get me wrong, I love them, but I don’t need them to make a comeback. There are other bands.

Also. I used to want Panik back. They’ve recently made a comeback of sorts. And. I’m not happy about it. It makes me sad.

Because. This:

I don’t understand it.

Who is one band/artist you’ve never seen live but always wanted to?

I’m going to have to say Nine Inch Nails, aren’t I?

Surely there will be a European tour eventually?

Name four or more flawless albums.

Actually flawless and in I wouldn’t skip a single song? Live Through This by Hole, Lost Forever // Lost Together by Architects and All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us by the same band and Deaf Havana’s All These Countless Nights.

Almost made the list: Relief Through Release by Tura Satana. That goddamn Nirvana cover, cannot stand it. Let the Ocean Take Me; the outro of Never Alone makes me cringe, ditto last track of Thrice’s To Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere.

How many concerts have you been to in total?
Not that many in my opinion. Can’t be bothered to count though.

Who have you seen the most live?

Architects. Five times. Which in my opinion isn’t that many. But it depends on your frame of reference I guess.

What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
Trouble Every Day by Tindersticks. It’s on this compilation:

What was your last musical ‘phase’ before you wisened up?
Before I fell into this black hole of post-hardcore type music (it’s what last.fm tells me I to listen to, OK?), I was listening to a lot of singer-songwriter type music, i.e. lots of Richard Hawley, Iain Morrisson, the National, Tindersticks, you know, nice music that doesn’t ask a lot of its listener. I still listen to it, just not as much.

What is your ‘guilty pleasure’ that you hate to admit liking?
I tend to only feel guilty about what ever I’m obsessively listening to at the time, i.e. I feel more guilty about the amount than the actual performer. Except for. I currently feel zero percent guilty that I’m listening to Amity as if there are no other bands.

Think we’ve established I do feel slightly guilty about listening to Korn though. Because they are not with the feminist agenda and I find that problematic.

I obviously tag hitherdither. Anyone else up for a rant about music? I’ll tag you!

In which I use a nomination to rant about menstruation

Lovely Lise has nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award, and you’re all about to regret it.

Rules:

You have to thank the person who nominated you for this award and provide a link to their blog.

Link the nominees and inform them about their nomination.

Nominate at least 15 bloggers of your choice

Share 7 facts about yourself.

Them rules are structured real weirdly. Also, stating some obvious stuff. I don’t approve.

But no matter! I’m going to use this nomination to rant on my favorite topic: menstruation.

  1. I’m currently on day 68 in my cycle. For me, it’s perfectly normal, having PCO and all.
  2. My last cycle was 46 days, and my period was 7 days long. I wasn’t happy about that. I usually get away with 90–120-day-cycles and 3 days of bleeding.
  3. As I’m growing older, my PMS and my periods are basically growing more unpredicable. SUCH FUN.
  4. Currently, I seem to be on week 4 of PMS. Which doesn’t seem to make sense, who has 4 weeks of PMS?? But it’s either that or I’ve got some sort of serious illness. Which I simply do not believe because I’m prone to hypochondria. Also considered if it could be menopause. Can’t find any evidence that it could be.
  5. If science focused on women’s bodies to any extent, I’m sure there’d be some way to tell if this in fact is PMS; I could take my Provera, have my bleeding and be done with it. But because I doubt it just a tiny bit, I don’t want to take hormones unless absolutely necessary (if it is in fact PMS I will be bleeding eventually); I hear hormones are bad for the environment, and also, if it doesn’t work, I’m going to have my period and feel crap on top of that? I don’t think so! So PLEASE if you have a period go use the Clue app so that we can collect some data and figure this shit out.
  6. Main PMS symptom currently bothering me the most: waking up in a pool of my own sweat. Like what the fuck. It COULD be that my building is just well-heated. I mean it is, because I’m never cold when at home and pretty much anywhere else always. At least I’ve figured out that if I open a window before going to bed and leaving it open just a bit throughout the night + put my hair in a high pony I’m fine. At least so far. It is still winter after all. Not sure what will happen once winter is over…
  7. Other fun PMS symptoms: joint and breast ache, throwing fits of rage about just about anything, you know, phone not starting up quickly enough, someone having moved your salt, painkillers not having the desired effect, in addition to feeling as if you’re running a fever, soar throat, having to go to bed at nine to not wake up still feeling exhausted and furious that you have to get up, HUNGER for ALL THE THINGS (is my doctor SURE I haven’t PCOS, like really??), being constantly reminded that you have ovaries because goddammit, I CAN FEEL THEM, that’s not right. It’s not as if I sit around feeling my liver.

There! I’m sure that’s exactly the type of facts the creator of this award had in mind. And my apologies to Lise too. I dare say, I’ve effectively made sure that I will be nominated again.

If you feel like sharing 7 facts about your period, consider yourself nominated! (Rules? What rules??)

Things to do on a Sunday #3

A tag! A tag on a Sunday after a grueling week that just about sucked all the life out of you, pretty much all I can manage.

Natural response to a horrible week: thoughts of escape. To anywhere but here.

A travel tag it is! This one is blatantly stolen from LaurenEllen.

Where was your first plane to?

Apparently, my parents thought it was v. v. important for me and my brother to experience flying at an early age; we flew to Stockholm. Must have been..six? Seven?

Then there was a huge gap of about 10 years until I ever set foot on a plan again. And I went to Bordeaux of all places. And by myself. Did the trip go smoothly? Obviously no!

Where have you travelled to that you would love to visit again?

I like repeats. I also like to be able to plan, which is way easier if you go somewhere where you’ve been before. You know I like to go to Glasgow. Like every time. But because that is such an obvious choice…

I’ve been craving Prague lately. What’s holding me back is if I’m going to travel, I want to see some band play. So far no luck.

Preferred method of travel; planes, trains or car?

I find the actual vehicle is of less importance than the surrounding circumstances. And in Swedish this would be known as jag är så jävla dryyyg. But honestly; I’m fine with planes as long as there are no delays, no luggage missing, the airport isn’t crazy crowded. Trains can also be good. You can move around and I always feel safe in trains, and they generally take you to the center of the city. But there are often delays and the trip itself already takes such a long time.

Car would be my least favorite. You can’t read, traffic, general feeling of being unsafe. And it takes such a lot of time.

Favorite travel website?

If you just keep going back to places you’ve been before, you don’t really need a travel website, do you?

Where would you travel to just eat the food?

Food is always a main reason for any trip I feel. I would travel any place that offers a decent selection of vegan eats. I hear Edinburgh have upped their game when it comes to vegan eats. Makes me more interested in Edinburgh than I have been for a while.

Is there a place you would never go again?

Stockholm. I never want to go to Stockholm. Honestly, at this point, I’d prefer going to Gothenburg. But as long as you live in Sweden though, you can’t really avoid visiting Stockholm I don’t think.

Do you prefer the window, aisle, or middle seat?

I used to love window seats. But then you’ve been trapped between the window and some male passenger who’s fallen asleep and just will not wake up one too many times it just looses its appeal. I will pick aisle every time.

How do you pass the time on the air plane?

Talk to sis, sleep, listen to music, read book, stare out window.

Best not think about traveling any more, because I’m getting myself a huge mortgage, I won’t be going nowhere for a while. Probably. Unless there’s some band I really, really need to see.

Mystery blogger award

This is an award created by Okoto Enigma

I was nominated by Lise, thanks love! You’ll find her blog here.

Rules

1. Put the award logo/image on your blog
2. List the rules
3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself and answer questions from your nominator.
6. You can nominate up to 20 people. (I think the original post actually forces you to nominate at least 10.)
7. (optional) Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
8. Ask your nominees five questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question
9. Share a link to your best post(s)

3 things about me

  1. I’ve been known to have a godawful temper.
  2. I haven’t got a single competitive bone in my body; curse and blessing all at once.
  3. I strongly believe people who listen to Coldplay only listen to Coldplay because no one’s bothered to introduce them to Editors.

Lise’s questions

How do you plan to spend the upcoming holidays?

I’m staying with my parents, out in the countryside, with all of the cats + brother & sister, avoiding winter as much as possible, only venturing out to go to the gym. Love the gym during Christmas! (Dear god I’ve gone and jinxed it now!?)

What is your most embarrassing memory?

Ah yes, I excel at the art of repression. I.e. hardly remember anything, embarrassing or otherwise. No wait here’s one! One that I’m still so embarrassed about I’m going to keep it vague; I had written about someone I know in an old blog, apparently using no names but the person in question still knew that it was about him. I didn’t know he read my blog, sooo..the content was of a nature I’d rather he didn’t know. I think. I’m not actually sure what I did write. But I do remember panicking about it. So that taught me a lesson…don’t write anything you’re not comfortable having your mum reading. That’s a strategy that just doesn’t fail.

Is there one thing you have always wanted to do, but never dared to do it?

Quit my job while singing you don’t own me. Because just imagine the power rush! The ultimate you can’t tell me what to do!

If you had one million in your currency, would you be considered rich? And what would you do with your money?

I was going to say yes, but then that’s usually the price tag for a regular non-fancy house/apartment in an average neighborhood (outside the big cities), so I’m thinking no…?

I’d feel pretty well off though. What I’d do:

    1. Pay off my student loan
    2. Get a rundown house in the countryside and hire someone to fix it up → live happily ever after.

What is something you cannot live without?

With the exception of the obvious (food, air, sleep), there are two things: music and the internet. How I know this: I’ll obsess about the lack of internet/music until the issue is solved. It’s happened a few times. Also, the idea of having a job where I couldn’t listen to music throughout the day scares me more than having a shitty job.

I nominate

Oh you know rules, I like to not follow them.

I’m skipping the nominations, but I’d love it if you, yes you, would answer one (or more??) of the following questions in the comments:

    1. How did you even end up here??
    2. What’s a current favorite of yours!?
    3. Are you going to remember 2016? If so, why?
    4. Who’s someone you find truly inspiring?
    5. What’s the smartest thing you’ve done in your life? I.e. tell me of a truly inspiring life choice!

As for best posts, according to whom? I’ll give you one that I quite like because it’s got travel to the UK, my fave band(s), orange eye make, vegan food and platform shoes, a weekly summary from August. That’s basically all the things I love in a single post! Which by no means makes for any sort of objectively good post. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it for years to come tho 😛

Lots of love!

ELEVEN. Weekend highlights

I did say I was going to get back to weekend highlights. These are highlights from the weekend I spent in Stockholm + Gothenburg;

› the burgers me and sis had at Vigårda & the fabulous (and for Sweden dirt cheap) elderflower + gin drink,
› my Monki purchases

final1477731816515
big chunky knit // card holder // keychain. also got lots of underwear, monki has the best underwear. but nobody needs to see that.

and,
the highlight of it all; seeing these guys play:

final1477685738472.jpg

It’s obviously Architects. They played in Stockholm on Saturday and Gothenburg on Monday. It was brilliant, as I’m sure you can imagine. I just wish they’d play a longer set is all.

Professional pic from the Gothenburg gig:

Gothenburg, thank you so much. That was insane! ❤️🤘🏻📷 : @edmasonphoto

A post shared by Architects (@architects) on

I can see myself to the far to the right. Yess.

Much approve of the new guy. Not that he in any way replaces the old guy, nor needs anyone’s approval, but you know. He just seems a good fit for the band. I hope he’s a keeper.

Question: when and why did gigs turn into Singalong at -insert name of venue here-? Or is it something that is specific for this genre? I’m confused. And not entirely on board. I mean every song? All of the words? Can we…just listen to the band some at least? Please?

TWENTY NINE. Halloween inspiration

I want to say this, but that’s a bit too fangirly even for me. Nightmare before Christmas in general? Fave part:

OOoooo sound of rolling dice is like music in the air.

Er. Right.

Was almost inspired to do a Halloween-y makeup after seeing this:

Guess who bitch.

But I just cannot be bothered. Cannot. This is as far as I’ll go:

THIRTY. A day in life

Today’s Sunday. Doesn’t mean I sleep in. My body was not made for it. FIVE O’CLOCK YOU SAY!?!! WAKEY WAKEY!

My sleep cycle app says 81% efficiency, which does’t strike me as bad at all? Never mind that it’s five on a Sunday morning.

Outfit of the day: black knit jumper, brown Dorothy Perkins tights from aaages ago (fave type! and they stop making them, wtf!?), and double socks.

final1477811335121

First fail of the day: was going to make semolina porridge; turns out the unopened soy milk had gone sour. Which I noticed after I poured it into the pan with the semolina. That’s great. Expiration date says May 2017. Interesting.

Sooo…being the efficient person that I am, I start cooking the chickpeas I’d soaked over night while making avocado toast, topped with mustard and a sesame-wasabi spice mix + chocolate mint tea and a banana + strawberries.

final1477811395617

I am not complaining.

On the agenda today:

  • clean apartment
  • start packing for Scotland
  • finish reading The Memory of Lost Senses
  • wash hair!

Among other things.

I excel at household work; I start by changing the bed, meal prepping (split butternut squash in half, shove in the oven), put a load of wash in the machine and start cleaning the bedroom. Useful mindset; Might as well while I’m at it.

By 10 I’ve cleaned the bedroom, roasted some more veg for my meal prep + folded laundry & concluded I’ve printed no hotel or travel confirmations what so ever for my Scotland trip. Apparently I’m under the impression my concert tickets will get me where I need to go.

Tea, orange & YouTube break.

final1477830267614

I’m doing my monthly deep-clean so there’s still plenty cleaning to go. Might seem a shame because it’s a beautiful day.

final1477830329942

Lunchlunchlunch! Roasted broccoli + smoked paprika spiced tofu and butternut squash mixed with nutritional yeast and lots of rosemary. Oh. And pasta. Yumyum!final1477830389608

And more goddamn cleaning. Adding lots of In Flames and Amity Affliction to my playlist for extra energy. Spotify proceeds to play In Flames as if it’s the only thing in the playlist. Oh well. I suppose that’s fair.

Crashed on the sofa for 30 minutes watching Så mycket bättre; the Magnus Carlsson from Weeping Willows episode. Spent the remainder of the episode lifting weights. I don’t know why I keep multitasking when I hate it.

And now I’m going to have to deal with this.

final1477841754894.jpg

Which I will. While listening to 90s Bon Jovi. These Days always makes me want to play the piano.

Hours later. It’s going well. Can I blame getting sidetracked by starting to clean out my closet? Some of my purchases makes me wonder if I know who I am at all.

final1477850099888.jpg

Take note that there is currently not a single piece of clothing in that suitcase.

So that’s what I’m doing for the rest of the night.

zombie

THIRTY ONE. Halloween

I’m just not feeling at all this year. So I’m doing what any sensible person would do: getting lots and lots of candy. That’ll sort me out.

final1477743625289

This stuff is probably not vegan. Almost positive.

Happy Halloween you all!

This feels like it’s long overdue, but here it is!

I was nominated by Lise over at lushtivity.net; said it before and I’ll say it again, thanks so much! Lise does lots of Lush posts, among other things; and who doesn’t love that?! Go have a look!

Seven facts about me:

  1. I love keeping things in tin boxes, all sorts of things, not just tea.
  2. I have a Mackintosh obsession.

Maybe just a few more bits..?

  3. I like potted plants. They don’t like me so much tho. There’s always a few facing imminent death at any given time. Current victims:
  4. My drink of choice is without a doubt Sauvignon blanc. It’s currently so bad I will refuse any other type wine. Well, with this one exception:final1475514000043
  5. I know how to crochet circular rugs.
  6. There is still something teenage about how I decorate my home.
  7. I’ve always liked shorts, skirts and dresses in inappropriate lengths. Remember these ones?

My nominees:

I’m going to cheat on this one. Would you like to be nominated? Just leave a comment!

Top ten Tuesday

top ten tuesday

This Tuesday, The Broke and the Bookish’s Top ten Tuesday is an excuse to dream some. Shouldn’t be passed up, right?

The topic of the week is Ten characters I’d name a child/dog/cat/car/etc. after.

I’m obviously going with cats.

  1. Medea. Actually, I was going to name a cat Medea. Unfortunately, it drowned before I got it; so I got a different cat, and named him…
  2. Morpheus. After Neil Gaiman’s Sandman. It’s an excellent name if you want your cat to be called just about anything other than what he’s named.
  3. Urd,
  4. Skuld,
  5. Verdandi. I’ve always wanted a trio of cats, Persians, and name them after the Norse Fates.
  6. Akasha. After Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned.
  7. Snotra. From Johanne Hildebrandt’s Freja. Because it’s a brilliant name. Snotra.
  8. Castor. From The Hunger Games. Unless you want to argue Greek mythology, in which case, you wouldn’t exactly be wrong.
  9. Circe. It does count as a character if it’s from mythology, right?
  10. …surely there is no need for yet another example of a barely pronounceable name originating from ancient mythology?
